Time to call the trip a success and head home…Mark disconnected everything for the last time this trip, flushed out the tanks, and we got everything packed up (not terribly time consuming since we’d had to pack everything up each morning anyway!). Less than an hour and we were ready to hit the road. The trip home was smooth and uneventful except for the one stop where Mark went to unlock one of the ‘basement’ storage compartments and the key broke off in the lock. Fortunately, we have another key, and fortunately, it was a compartment that you can access from a couple different doors, so it wasn’t tragic, but it was annoying.
Mark’s work on the dash really held – the screen survived the entire eight hour journey home without any issues (except of course that the touchscreen still doesn’t work, but at least the screen stayed in place and we didn’t have to fight with it all the way home). Mark and I shared the driving and were again impressed with how easy it is to drive on the highway. The only times it gets a little tricky are in construction zones where there are lane shifts, closed shoulders, etc…you just feel like you have NO room on either side, and of course, that’s when 18-wheelers pass you. Ugh. But otherwise, it’s not bad at all! Overall, the trip was definitely a success. We learned a lot, we had some minor issues but nothing that we couldn’t overcome or deal with, and we’re smarter for the next trip…in just a few weeks to a State Park in Ohio and then on to visit family in the Chicago area!
